DigitalCity Fest Returns for 2021

The flagship festival from Prolific North returns for a new event in 2021.
Running from 12 April, the festival will aim unite the change-makers, thought leaders, decision makers and creators in an online setting.
Martyn Collins, Festival Director of DCF, said: “Digital City Festival will be another world first for Manchester – a global and totally inclusive experience featuring live, virtual and hybrid events broadcast to an international audience.
“Thought leaders from around the world will come together either in person or online to debate the key challenges facing people, businesses and governments as we build back better. The business content covered is expanding to include Culture, Skills & Talent and Growth & Productivity making the festival more essential than ever.”
The festival will take place at Manchester Central Convention Complex.

Tees Valley Mayor Launches Schemes Designed to Help Young People 

Ben Houchen, the Tees Valley Mayor, has headed up the launch of two schemes aimed to support young people across our region.
The first is a £2 billion Kickstart Scheme created by the Department for Work and Pensions which will offer six-month placements for those aged 16-24.
Houchen has pledged to act as a representative for Tees Valley businesses looking to utilise the scheme.

The Mayor and Tees Valley Combined Authority have also implemented a New Employer Grant for Apprenticeships which aims to support SMEs in the acquisition of apprentices.
The grant will cover 100% of wages for the first six months of employment followed by 50% of wages, up to a maximum of 40 hours per week.

DigitalCity Updates 

DigitalCity has a number of great updates this week.
Firstly, this year’s iteration of its Accelerator Programme closes for applications on Monday 14 September.
The Accelerator programme has been designed to accelerate the growth of early-stage tech companies in the Tees Valley who are in the process of launching or planning to launch new to market products and services.

Secondly, DigitalCity is working with Ben Kenyon from North Cyber Security to deliver a series of Cyber Security Workshops on 15 and 22 September. Spaces are limited to get in touch now if interested!
